Learning through the stories of the Gospel
Our Children’s Liturgy of the Word or GLOW (Growing in the Light of Our Word) program is offered to our preschool aged children. GLOW is offered during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass and gives parents and older siblings the opportunity to focus their attention on mass while the younger children have an age-appropriate religious experience.
Parents get an email reminder each week with an ‘opt in’ feature for their children to participate in GLOW. Children are dropped off at the parish center between 10:15 and 10:30 a.m. and parents pick the childrn back up after Mass.
Each family receives a restaurant-style pager, so they can be notified if they are needed without having to leave their phone on at Mass. This allows us to notify parents if their child becomes ill or just needs to be picked up early.
This program allows parents to feel very comfortable at Mass, while the children are introduced to the idea of God in a way they are excited about – through songs, games and crafts. It is the first step to introducing them to (parish) faith life.
Growing in the Light of Our Word (GLOW) is available for children ages 3 years (bathroom trained) to 2nd grade (sacramental year).
